‘I Am Don Draper’

During Advertising Week, we asked folks on Madison Avenue who they thought most believed they are the real, walking, talking embodiment of “Mad Men”’s Don Draper (or Peggy Olson).

    Clients: Diageo’s Smirnoff, Unilever’s Tresemme, Western Union, etc.

    Don Draper-ness: “I drink and smoke, but as to Don’s other pursuits, we now have Human Resources so they’re a no go.”

    Don Draper-ness: Hobnobs with Hollywood talent and brand leaders to create cutting-edge programming.

    Clients: Under Armour, Century 21, Planet Fitness, etc.

    Don Draper-ness: Believes the only real martini is made with gin. Like Draper’s firm, his had a name change and opened a West Coast office.

    Don Draper-ness: Like Don, Kieran is always on the cutting edge of new trends and is a coder by trade. He just opened the firm’s New York office this month.

    Don Draper-ness: Bryant knows when to be in the right place at the right time. The former Googler, is out to bring Google creativity to this Omnicom-owned shop.

    Clients: Clinique, Hyatt, etc.

    Don Draper-ness: In the same way Don talks to wait staff about why they smoke certain brands of cigarettes, Young is all about knowing your customer and trend spotting

    Clients: Bank of America, FedEx, Gillette, Lowe’s, PepsiCo, etc.

    Peggy Olson-ness: Credle is one of the most influential women in advertising, says Advertising Age and she was just named Chicago’s Ad Woman of the year. Leo Burnett is the agency behind the All State “Mayhem Men,” ad campaign, which Credle helped conceive.

    Clients: Worked on the “I Love New York” campaign in its early years.

    Peggy Olson-ness: Maas describes her experience at ad agencies during the sixties in a salty book called, “Mad Women.” She was a creative director at Ogilvy and Mather, and the infamous Wells, Rich, Greene, run by Mary Wells.

    Don Draper-ness: These cool cats are snappy dressers, what else do we need to say. OK then, they were featured among Creativity magazine’s “Most Influential Creative People.”

    Clients: Got Milk, GoDaddy, Microsoft

    Peggy Olson-ness: Keenan is joining Deutsch this week after working her way through all the big creative agencies. She’s also one of the first women to ever hold a global creative title at an ad agency.
